Ashes to Go in Friendswood
March 6, 8 - 11 am
Ashes to Go is a way to bring the gifts of worship out of church buildings and into the byways of life. That day, pulling into a special parking area to stop and receive ashes on the forehead --along with a brief prayer and blessing – will provide many of God’s people with a wonderful, unexpected moment of liturgy and grace. In 90 seconds or less in a parking lot. Last year more than 80 cars pulled off to receive ashes.
On Ash Wednesday go to church if you’re able. Services that day at Good Shepherd:
12:15 – 12:45 Imposition of Ashes (only) or
7 pm Ashes imposed and Communion.
But if you cannot make one of the church services, pull into the Friendswood Dairy Queen (if you’re heading south on Friendswood Drive) or Friends Uncorked (if you’re heading north) between 8:00 and 11 am to receive the same gift from the same well of grace.
Come help! Ashes to Go is a ministry of ordinary lay people as well as clergy. To be part of the ministry that morning, contact Fr. Geoff at the office 281-482-7630.
