Clergy Corner and Coffee

“Clergy Corner and Coffee” is held in our Parish Hall on Sunday after our 9:30 worship service.

The class includes a topical presentation and discussion.  Topics are generally determined by the class attendees, and the discussion is led by a clergy person.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study
This Bible Study takes place in the Chapel from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., following the Litany of Healing and Holy Communion.  The current study is on spirituality.
Women's Bible Study
In the fall and spring of each year, Good Shepherd offers Bible studies for women.  The Bible Studies are open to other churches and members of our community and typically last about 10 weeks.  There is a day-time study group and an evening study group.  Groups meet once a week, either at the church or in members’ homes.  The classes are designed to strengthen participants’ relationships with Christ and one another.
Men's Bible Study
Good Shepherd offers weekly evening Bible studies for men on Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Church Parlor. Contact Bob Smither (713-443-0130) or Lee Wilcox (281-756-0556) for further information.
Daughters of the King (DOK)
The mission of the DOK is to extend Christ's Kingdom through prayer, service, and evangelism.  Good Shepherd’s DOK chapter meets monthly for prayer, study and outreach.  Speakers and programs focus on forms of prayer and how to invite the Holy Spirit in as you pray.  Various forms of prayer and prayer methods have been explored, such as reflective prayer, invitatory prayer, contemplative prayer, Taizé, prayer beads, walking the labyrinth, silent retreats, and use of the prayer book.  The DOK has a dynamic prayer network.
Discovery and Rediscovery Weekends
This on-campus lay retreat offers a relaxed environment for witness, discussion, worship, fellowship and food.  Several different formats are grouped under this ministry, all of which follow the general pattern of lay talks on various subjects followed by discussion.
Cursillo
Cursillo is a movement of the Christian church, designed to help the laity better understand their individual gifts and callings to be Christian leaders.  Good Shepherd teams have led many Cursillo retreats, most recently Cursillo #233 in August 2011.  Good Shepherd also supports reunion groups and Ultreyas, which are methods for staying accountable to one another in our Christian journeys.
SNUG (Sunday Nights Under God)
On Sunday nights from 5 pm – 6 pm an Adult class is offered. Adults of all ages (parents especially) are
encouraged to attend our TV Bible Study. We are currently watching episodes from the Television Series
Mash and will then move on to a Bible Study based off of Modern Family. During this time, we also
have available classes for kids of all ages or nursery care. At 6pm, we all meet and have dinner together.
Dinner is provided by a cook team of the week.
